Ad Income

What is Ad Income

Ad Income/Ad Revenue is the easiest method on this list. You simply join an ad network like Google Adsense and allow them to display ads on your website. There are plenty of ad networks available for new bloggers but, they can vary in quality and pay.

Some ad companies have requirements for traffic while others don’t. That means from launch day you can be join an ad network and be paid simply because someone visited your site and saw an ad. Or, even better someone clicked on an ad on your site.

The pay rates vary from each network and as your traffic grows you’ll likely be on the prowl for higher paying networks with better quality, higher paying ads.

What is a good Ad Network for beginner bloggers

As a beginner blogger, Google Adsense is a fabulous choice. They have ads in different shapes, sizes and are easy to install. Plus, they allow you to choose which pages to display ads on or not. And you can even choose the types of ads you’d like blocked from your site to further tailor your customization options. They pay out once a month if you meet the minimum threshold of $100.

Ad revenue is one of the easiest ways to make money blogging but, it’s important to go with a reputable company that’ll display relevant ads. For my first blog I joined any network that would take me and the ads were so cringy and didn’t get any clicks. Plus, the ads were borderline inappropriate and I wasn’t really comfortable with them and the amount of time it took to make a 10 cents was ridiculous. So, I took them off of my site.

Affiliate Networks

Affiliate Networks/Affiliate Programs/Affiliate Links are an awesome and simple way to earn money as well. There are countless affiliate programs for bloggers including Amazon Affiliates and ShareASale. Both of which allow for new bloggers to join. However, with Amazon you do have to meet the minimum sales within a certain time to officially be approved.

Once you join an affiliate program, you’ll be given links specific to you. These links identify the traffic you are bringing and if any sales occur from your link. Each program has its own rules on payment amounts, dates and requirements.

Why are affiliate links the easiest way to make money blogging?

Using affiliate links is so simple because all you have to do is share a product that you love with your readers by linking to it with your specific link. One popular way to incorporate affiliate links is through round up posts, especially during holiday season. For instance, you can write “10 Great Christmas Ideas for Kids” and links to products that are relevant. Or you write an entire post dedicated to one specific thing like an unbelievable useful tripod for vloggers and link directly to it.

Affiliate links work best when they are relevant to your usual content and helpful. Do NOT be like me when I had my first blog. I would see cool things I wanted to share and would use the links I found on other blogs. I was directing traffic and sales to a product linked to someone else aka getting someone else paid! Making absolutely zero dollars for myself. Somehow, I thought a link could be identified as mine because it was on my site. I can’t explain how I drew that conclusion. Carrying on😅.

Digital Products

Digital products are another great way to earn money from your blog. Although this requires a little more time and skill it is fairly easy. You can use resources like Canva to create printables (quotes, calendars, budget sheets, templates etc.) to sell on your site or use as an Optin to build your mailing list.

“Digital products are great and one of the easiest ways to make money blogging”

Digital products are great and one of the easiest ways to make money blogging because they are something you can set the price for and sell as much of as you want. It’s a ‘one and done‘ kind of thing. You can also sell your products on different platforms like Etsy. Or, if you aren’t that confident in your design skills you can purchase and customize a template (like this) from websites like Creative Market so long as you purchase a commercial license.

Services

If you have a skill set that people are looking for selling your services on your blog is another simple way to generate income. If you are a good designer, you can offer web design or branding services. Perhaps you’re a skilled assistant? Consider virtual assisting. Maybe you want to tutor people on school subjects? Then do that.

There are endless services that you can provide to people but, it’s important to actually have a little knowledge in these areas. Don’t pretend. People can get a feel for your skills and ability simply by what they see on your blog. So, if you are a blogger constantly sharing tips and tricks to train your new puppy you’ll find more success offering dog training than you would offering training on how to lose 15 pounds without working out.
