Having no excuses this Vlogtober is super important to me. I knew today and tomorrow were going to be jam-packed and busy so I’m preparing. I’m writing my blogs today for both because I’m actually also participating in Blogtober. I don’t want to miss out on reaching my goals when there was a way to accomplish them.
You see the thing about goals is that if you plan ahead for them you’re more likely to accomplish them. There’s not rules during Vlogtober that say everything has to be done THAT DAY. You can create your content ahead of time and schedule it. It takes a little of the stress of everything off. Or you could simply say “I was too busy”. The choice is yours. My choice is to do what I said I wanted to do – no excuses.
This morning, I felt heavy and unmotivated to do everything I still needed to do to prepare for my sisters service. I’m so thankful I have many hands helping me with other things but, there is still a lot I need to handle. Since I live about three hours away from where the service is being held, I have to prepare and pack up our stuff. Plus, I have to straighten my hair and do two of my daughters hair and my oldest daughter and I still need shoes.
When I woke up, there energy simply wasn’t there. I had also decided that I didn’t feel like I had enough stuff for her service. My cousin made buttons, I ordered ribbons, we’ve got the obituaries, and prayer cards but I wanted something more. While I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday I picked up magnetic photo holder just for me. However, this morning I decided I would make a lot more for people attending the service. So, that’s what I spent my morning doing. I printed so many photos and have to stop by Hobby Lobby again to get more magnets. I’m even making some for a friend who recently lost her little boy.
People don’t talk much about all that goes into planning a funeral. I’ve been to so many, helped with so many as well. However, I never really never the full extend of what all goes into it. There’s so much to think about and so much to do. And although I do have help, I have really felt alone throughout the entire thing. Every decision has been mine alone and that’s rough. Every choice is heavy and I wonder if I’m making the right one.
For example, I was kind of forced into doing a cremation but I obviously couldn’t afford a full burial. Then I was left with the choice of an urn which thankfully my aunt purchased and had sent over. I had to decide the dates and time of the service and do my best to accommodate people coming from out of town. When I created her obituary there was so much thought that went into that. Even her invitations. Which you wouldn’t believe the commentary someone gave me about that. The things people do and say during this time is unbelievable sometimes.
I could go on and on about everything but, I won’t. I just want to make sure that I wrote today to accomplish my Blogtober goal. I’ll UPDATE the post later but for now, it’s here and I hope you enjoy.
