Greetings readers! Today, I feel so good about the blog I’m putting out. It’s the first one that feel like I have some kind of concept going. We’re 21 days into Blogtober and although I’ve been very proud of simply “showing up”, I do want to put out substantial and helpful content. Things that people might want to come back to my website for. Ya know? For instance Horror Reads for Halloween is definitely something that people can come back to year after year.
Anyways, here’s something about me you may not know -I’m a reader! I absolutely love to cozy up with a good book. Normally, I’m a physical book kind of girl but I’ve been getting into e-books lately too. For a while, I’d been super busy parenting and with life so I haven’t read as much over the past few years as I’d like. However, last year I decided no excuses I would pick up more than 3 books a year and I have!
Just this month I think I’ve already read 3 books and I can’t wait to share that with you too. But, today I’m going to share with you what’s on my Horror Reads for Halloween reading list. I might not get to every book, especially since I won’t be buying them all. And also because pretty soon I’ll be digging into Christmas Spirit reads but, I wanted to share the list anyways.

Wake Up and Open Your Eyes by Clay Chapman

This book is about demonic possession that happens through consuming media. What a wild concept! I’m super excited to read this story because I feel like it touches on our current climate revolving around media. How people are literally just eating what’s being fed to them and not doing any research themselves, making choices based on what they’re presented, how people are arguing and fighting with each other. Crazy stuff. Although obviously fiction, it sounds like it could really hit home.
Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

A group of girls living in a home for pregnant teens come across a book of the occult. No one is in a predicament they like or can control, so chances are high they will be using learning witchcraft to switch things up in their favor. It’s hard to guess what kind of mischief they’ll whip up but, I’m interested to know.

Now this book! From what I’ve heard there’s a lot going on. We’ve got a trans-person pregnancy, low-key (maybe high-key I don’t know) domestic violence, Appalachian horror. It’s science fiction which is kind of my vibe so I’m sure it’ll be quite a good and entertaining read.

I heard they were turning this into a Netflix movie. Regardless of that though this book is about a couple who purchase a home when the former residents pop up. From the time they arrive all kinds of strange things happen and we’re left to wonder what’s real?

We’ve got another house horror on the list. In this book a women returns to her childhood home and finds that the entity that haunted her before is still around and waiting. I love a good book about going back to ones childhood home. I always wonder what that’s like because I grew up in apartments, there is not one single solid place to call my childhood home.
