Does grief make you tired? It’s something I started wondering today because I have been extremely tired since I got home yesterday. There are so many things that I put on my agenda but, other than what must be done like school drop offs I just can’t see to muster up the energy. Physically, it’s just not there, I’m always ready to sleep.

Now, if you’ve been reading a long you know, this isn’t my first experience with loss. I’ve gone through seeing many people I love be laid to rest but, there is nothing like this. My sister was always everything to me, I love her so much. Emotionally, I don’t really feel anything until I think of her and then I feel it all or I just sleep. The weight of it all is too much sometimes.

So, I did a quick Google search and it seems that yes grief does do that to you. It causes you to be lethargic and that explains exactly how I’ve been feeling.

This is a few things I read about it:

Grief is a stressful and emotionally draining experience that can disrupt sleep patterns, reduce appetite, and increase cortisol levels. These factors can contribute to feelings of tiredness and exhaustion.

The intensity and duration of fatigue can vary depending on the individual and the circumstances of their loss. Some people may experience only mild tiredness, while others may feel completely drained and unable to function.

If I’m being honest, I’m right in between feeling completely drained and unable to function. That’s one of the reasons why it’s so important to me to keep on doing blogtober and vlogtober. These are goals that I have that I’m fighting for to achieve. Even if it’s kind of sloppy at least I’m showing up.

I did manage to gather up all my kids dirty clothes but didn’t get to do laundry. That was more due to not being able to the cash on hand. We also made it to the library to return an overdue book I found while separating their clothes. I’m so glad I found that book because I didn’t want to have to pay $15 for it and there was a block from checking out books.

I did grab myself on book and several books for the kids. Ohana Hawaiian BBQ has this little thing going on for the kids. If they read 5 books they get a free meal, so I definitely want to participate. It seems like getting kids to do anything other than be on their phones and tablets is a huge debacle. Growing up I was excited to read. I loved to read and I want my kids to know how to find entertaining things to do other than something electronic. Plus, if we’re being honest being able to read is the most essential life skill. I was so proud while at the library my youngest daughter was like “that says closed”. Because girl, where did you learn that word?

Anyways, I’m going to allow myself the next few days to just lay in my grief and feel how my body wants to feel. I’m not going to force anything. If something doesn’t get done it just doesn’t get done. I’m not going to allow any stress. I’m going to allow myself the space I need to process everything.

Anyways, thanks for reading! I think tomorrow I’m going to write out a blog plan so these things don’t feel so random.
