Armed Forces Appreciation Parade

Did I spell appreciation right?

Anyways, told we happened upon our towns annual Armed Forces Appreciation Parade and decided to go on ahead and attend. We literally live within walking distance so we made the walk a few blocks over and enjoyed the show!

I can’t remember the last parade I went to but, I do remember at least one parade that I’ve been in. When I was little, I was part of a baton group and we were always in the local parades. I remember my shiny blue leotard and silver sequin skirt.

You know, thinking about that memory right now reminds me of my childhood. Everything I’m trying to prevent my niece from experiencing is what’s playing in my head. I remember my grandma being there and her son, his wife and their kids. Although they showed up they were really the only people my grandma ever had around me. Every birthday, christmas, holiday. I felt so detached from my other family and at the same time I felt second-class to them. My grandma treated them like they were Gods gift to Earth. I was very lonely.

But anyways, I didn’t start this blog with the intention of speaking of things of the past! I just wanted to say hey, I went to my first parade in this town and it was something! It really felt like everybody knew everybody. Both my daughters found friends from school, there was a lot of local spirit for the high school and teams. There was also like a billion beauty queens. I was surprised because this is such a small town, how many beauty queens can there be?

Anyways, here’s the link to the live if you want to enjoy. We’re going to hit up wingstop and rent a movie!
