It’s Day 30 of Blogtober/Vlogtober and baby we are almost at the finish line! I almost don’t want it to end. I can’t wait to come back to these blogs and Youtube videos and see what all I had going this month. Obviously, I’ll never forget the traumatic stuff but, the little stuff -that’s what I’m talking about. The things I won’t remember a year from now because I can’t even remember them today.
This journey has been pretty interesting. When people say they learned so much from doing things like this I always thought it was a crock of shit. What can you learn from videoing yourself everyday or writing a blog post? My eyes were closed to the process. Now that’s I’ve stood in these shoes I know there is certainty a lot to learn.
Challenges like blogtober/blogtober really test you to expand your imagination and creativity. They force you to get uncomfortable and pull out your phone and record yourself in public. It holds you to the goals you set for yourself because someone, somewhere is reading or watching. You learn how to show up for yourself and make no excuses, you start wanting a little more – a little better for yourself. You’re excited to share something you’ve seen, heard or are experiencing.
There’s so much about doing this that I didn’t realize would affect me and I’m grateful that I took on the challenge. We have one more day left in October and while I hope I make it there’s always no guarantees! It’s HALLOWEEN and you know that means running around town all day and night with the little ones. Plus, the day itself is going to be busy because I have “lunch on the lawn” for one of my girls. I’m super excited to go down to the school and eat lunch picnic style with her.
At one of the trick or treat events we went to today (the one hosted by the NAACP OF BARSTOW), she got a free costume. We upgraded it a little bit by adding jewels around the waist and collar. That way even if a lot of other kids have the costume hers will be different. Same as we did with her witch costume last year. We’re taking something out of its basic form and making it unique.
All in all today wasn’t a bad day. I’m pretty tired because of all the walking I did but, I got a little boost of confidence and energy. I can thank all these super stressful personal issues I’m going through for it. Today felt like a win in a lot of ways. One day soon I’ll talk about it all with you but that won’t be until court is done.
Now, I’m fixing to go to bed because literally I did a lot today and I’m ready for sleep.
Talk soon!
